Spirit of Competition Salver 2025

Every year, at the ThamesMOG’s AGM, trophies are awarded for various Morgan achievements. Such as the member who has driven the most miles in a Morgan during the year, or who has raised the most for charity through their Morgan activities. The Spirit of Competition Salver, which is presented to the Centre member who has been the most inspirational in the spirit of competition during the year, has not been awarded since before COVID. For 2024, ThamesMOG was delighted to award the Salver to the father-and-son duo, Alan and Howard Clark. Throughout the year, Alan took part in the SpeedMog

Bentley Drivers Club 2022

It was good to meet up with some ThamesMOGers at the Bentley Drivers Club annual race day at Silverstone. I know there were others there who I did not see. I hope you all had an entertaining time.   Everyone enjoyed watching the racing, viewing the fine display of vintage Bentleys, racing Morgans and a whole host of other race cars, plus meeting Morgan owners from other Centres. As usual, the two Morgan races, part of the Aero Racing Morgan Challenge Series, were closely fought affairs, as was the racing in the Fifties Sports Car Racing Club events that included

ThamesMOG at the races 2022

At the end of May, 14 Morgan visited the Brands Hatch motor racing circuit for the Master Historic Festival. All of the racing was exceptional, quite a few went down to the wire.  Especially the F1 race with the eventual winner coming from the very back of the grid having been escorted off the track on the first race.   Many thanks to all who ventured out, well done hopMOG for a good show of Morgans. As I’ve mentioned before, it’s a mini Silverstone classic but only costs £12:50 for a whole days entertainment Graham Larby

Brighton Speed Trials - September 2015

During the final days running up to the 2015 Brighton Speed Trials, you would have noticed adverts posted round Brighton advertising the fact Freddie Hunt, the son of the late James Hunt, would be competing in the Trials. A great selling point for sure. As a humble competitor I was oblivious of this until I fell upon the paparazzi in the paddock. The Brighton Speed Trials, which started in 1905, involves a straight line dash along Madeira Drive along the seafront. Today, it is a standing quarter mile timed run, which is a useful distance as often these times are

Goodwood Revival 2013

Only two Morgans (Plus 4's) at the Goodwood Revival this week-end, these are a few pictures taken in the paddock. Malcolm Paul (No. 21) achieved an excellent 4th. in the Fordwater Trophy on Sunday morning against some tough competition. Rupert Richards (No. 107) was 11th.
