While booting up my computer the other day I noticed an interesting news story, you know how it is one gets a list of top stories to look at before one goes into one’s mail account. This particularly one mentioned a new luxury tower block in Singapore with fantastic views. The twist though, was that the owner of an apartment pulls up at ground level and with the use of a finger print reader opens access to a lift with windows all round big enough for a Ferrari or two. Having driven in, the lift delivers the car and occupants to their apartment whereby one can walk straight into one’s flat. The views are not only outside across the dramatic landscape but also of the said Ferrari – or in our cases just imagine a couple of Morgan Sports Cars: a room with a view for sure. My style of living – would oil leaks seep into the living room though? Incidentally, remember I mentioned the other month a mobile phone with a Geiger counter built in, well Peter Hine of Spotmog contacted me to tell me his technical team in Bracknell was responsible for testing this Android phone made by Sharp, the Pantone 5. The bulk of the requests for this phone came from young mothers, hence, many come in pink – I must have one. Thank you Peter for the update much appreciated. It won’t be long before the mobile phone does everything!
Please don’t forget this month at the Bird In Hand noggin we have a meeting to discuss ideas for future events in the months/years ahead. Please come along and give us your views and thoughts for future Centre activities. For example, we do have some weekends away planned for May next year but I have received a comment asking why we don’t do trips away from these busy times. There is no reason why not, since for people that are more flexible the world is almost their oyster. Also, we have suggestions for scenic runs for the day out to the Cotswolds, for example, and very nice too. So do come along with your ideas – I look forward to seeing you there.
With the year passing quickly, next month we have the Veteran Car Run meeting at Staplefield, with Brighton Centre, to watch them pass us by. At the time of writing, late august, our normal route coming from the south, to arrive at the Jolly Tanners in an attempt to minimise our mixing it with the veterans, is disrupted by local road improvements. Therefore, I recommend you check the Brighton Centre report for the best way to arrive at the pub this year. I hope to see you there.
