I would to thank everyone for volunteering for another year of service on the Centre’s Committee. Due to family commitments Terry Tedman stood down as Regalia Officer and David Mansfield came forward to take on this important role. On behalf of the Centre, I would like to thank Terry for all his hard work whilst at the same time wishing David all the best in his new position on the Committee. By the way David, I have just broken my Thames Valley Centre mug any chance of ….
We have a full year ahead with new ideas for events and activities coming through. At the AGM for 2017 we are planning to invite an interesting speaker – once again, please watch this space.
Tim Jones’ Double Dealer Day on 28th May was a great success and enjoyed by all that took part. They had reasonable weather while the rest of us had rain and thunderstorms. I will look forward to seeing the photos. At the time of writing Tim’s Second Thames Tour was to be held on 12th June. I would like to thank Tim for organising these pleasant outings. We will all look forward to the Third Thames Tour on September 4th.
Also, on behalf of the Centre, I would like to thank Graham Larby for organising trips to Brands Hatch and Brooklands over the last couple of months. These are world class events – I do hope we will be able to go back again next year: thank you Graham for all your hard work.
Fawley Hill Museum on Sunday 14th August 2016
We are returning, by popular demand, to the Fawley Hill Museum on Sunday 14th August 2016. Terry Tedman has been able to get us back to the Museum earlier than we had expected. This is a great day out. Last year I had my first ride on a steam driven carrousel. I have always loved the horses. The museum itself is a delight to all rail enthusiasts and of course there are the regular rides on the train around the grounds of the estate with plenty of wildlife to spot. Our very own Tim James is a volunteer at the museum – a wonderful place to work. Last year he was working in the signal box, changing points, etc. Will Tim be on the footplate this year? Thames Tour 3 - Marlow to Teddington. 4th September 2016
Tim Jones has organised a series of outings to criss-cross the entire navigable non-tidal Thames via various routes with suggested photo opportunities, places of interest, coffee stops/lunch venues, etc. This will take the form of three Thames Valley Tours spread throughout the year. They will be informal events requiring minimum MSCC approval (subject to numbers).
Suggested routes and info sheets will be provided at the start of each event and full details including where to meet and end (with appropriate parking) will be provided. Participants will require road maps/satnav and will plan their own routes (with help available at the start). Coffee and lunch stops will be suggested but not provided.
There will be a modest charge of £5 per car to cover printing and organising costs. All you need to do is register in advance: then get to the start point in good time with map, money, and fuel. Full details will be published shortly.

Thames Valley Centre car badges and pin badges
Our pin badges were launched at the AGM and they sold very well along with a new batch of the Thames Valley Centre Car badge, as depicted in the logo associated with the Centre’s reports in Miscellany, the pin badge has the same design. This is the round badge design. The pins come in a choice of colours as well.
We are taking orders now, please be quick as we feel these items are proving to be very popular. Orders are taken on a first come first served basis, as always.
