I would like to start this month’s report by wishing you all a very Happy and Healthy 2025.
At this time of year, it is customary to reflect on the year that has just past. We certainly have had a busy time with the many ThamesMOG activities. In 2024, as well as arranging 24 Noggins, twelve at the Bird-in-Hand and twelve at the Harte and Magpies, ThamesMOG has attended just as many events and visits. The events ranged from exhibiting our Morgans, alongside 250 other classics, at the ever popular Pangbourne College Classic Cars Show, to joining with SogMOG at the West Tisted Air Display, and arranging visits that varied from visiting the de Havilland Museum, to the Centre’s four nights away on our Welsh trip to Llanerchindda Farm. I would like to thank all those who has taken the time and effort to arrange these lovely trips for our members.
We have many more adventures in the pipeline for you in 2025. For example, on New Year’s Day, why not join with other car enthusiasts for an impromptu gathering of cars and car folk at The Phoenix Inn, Hartley Wintney. This is where you are likely to see all types, shapes, colours and condition of cars. Vintage, Veteran, Classic, Hot-Rod they will all be there at some time. The pub usually has burgers, hot dogs, teas and coffee for sale outside, as well as a busy bar inside. Keep an eye open for any fellow ThamesMOGers who might be there.
Alternatively, on New Year’s Day, why not pop along to Stoney Stratford from 9:30. Expect to ‘see’ a great deal of Vintage cars and bikes and even a few commercials, expect to ‘hear’ a cacophony of engines as they celebrate the New Year with ‘one minutes noise’ at midday, followed at 12.30, by an unmissable awards presentation, expect to ‘eat and drink’ at one of the many pubs and restaurants and stalls that open up especially to welcome you. It’s free for spectators and drivers but donations to Willen Hospice would be appreciated. We are informed that they need to raise an astonishing £4.7m a year to make it all happen, so please give generously – every little helps and any donation no matter how small will be gratefully received.
Bye the way, our next Noggin in on Thursday 2rd January, at The Bird-in-Hand, Knowl Hill.
