I was saddened to learn of the recent passing of Peter Veal. We hadn't seen Peter for awhile but a few years ago he was an active and popular member of the Centre. Peter had an interesting life with his time as a pilot in the RAF and subsequently a pilot navigator with an airline. He had his first book published in 2005, which could explain why in recent times we hadn't seen him. He will be sorely missed. On behalf of the Centre I would like to send our sincere condolences to Pamela Veal and Peter's family.

A little over a year ago, at the time of writing in late January 2009, I was reading the blog of one of my favourite singer/song writers/musicians, KT Tunstall. I remember reading KT was spending Christmas Day in her flat, up in Edinburgh, when there was a knock on her door. Her boyfriend had arrived unexpectedly- he had told her the night before that he was away over Christmas. However, it wasn�t long before her boyfriend went down on one knee and proposed. I was pleased to learn that our visit to the Chiltern Brewery went down well, last October. Intriguingly, we discovered that the very first tour and meal at the brewery was actually organised for a Morgan Car club, but they could not trace back what club as it was many years ago. So I wonder if any historians out there can shed any light on this mystery. It must have been a cultured group of aficionados to have thought of holding such a visit. I hope everyone had a very happy and enjoyable Christmas. I would like to welcome you all to our Centenary Year celebrations. I think 2009 is going to be busy. Interestingly, while we celebrate our one hundredth, our friends from the Marcos Club will be marking the fiftieth year of the Marcos. We hope to commemorate this happy coincidence, with some joint events through the year. The first of these has already been booked.  I would like to congratulate Geoff Giles and Jerry Tanner for their "Italian Job" run in aid of KidsOut an organisation that aims to provide fun and happiness for children with disabilities, disadvantaged and those that are sadly terminally ill. Jerry joined Geoff as his co-driver for the run and an authentic Land Rover based on the one that was used in the famous film. Incidentally, this film is a firm favourite with many British Motor Sport fans and not many people know that. Part of the deal was that Jerry would have his long standing beard shorn off, to

 I would like to thank Trudie Jacobs, from Brighton Centre, for her kind invitation to the Dunsfold Aerodrome "Wings and Wheels" event back in August. I am told the airshow was quite spectacular. A colleague of mine who was there independently told me that the show was at least as good as the Farnborough Airshow, this year. Unfortunately, the recently restored Vulcan bomber was unable to attend due to an undercarriage problem, I believe. Although it did fly at Farnborough this year, taking off and landing in front of an enthralled crowd, I know I was there. It is remarkable
