I was deeply saddened to learn of the recent passing of Glenn Davies. Glenn had been an active member of our Centre, as well as our neighbouring Oxmog, for many years. He worked closely with his wife Jane, our very own Regalia Officer, helping her to produce our popular Thames Valley garments and car badges. Glenn had many friends in the club and he will be sorely missed. I was proud to have known him and that I had been able to call him my friend.
Glenn had many interests, along with his love of Morgan cars; he also had a passion for Jaguars. Nevertheless, his last purchase was a beautiful Series III Aero 8, a car that Glenn and Jane enjoyed immensely over last summer. Talking to Helen Thorne recently, she reminded me of a wonderful trip she had with Glenn and Jane at the last Classic Le Mans, a couple of years ago. They had a lot fun together. One year I know, Glenn and Jane toured Spain in their earlier Aero, making for many happy memories.
The last project Glenn had been involved in for the Centre was a Charity Challenge, encouraging us to visit other Centres and their various noggins. He had planned an en-masse visit from our Centre to last month's noggin with Oxmog. Since Glenn was so involved in both Centres, I think this would be a great Challenge to support in Glenn's memory. So from now on please contact me if you would like to take part. As you will probably remember, Bert Oslar is the nominator for the charity that will benefit from this project.
At this sad time, I would like to send our sincere condolences, to Jane and her family, on behalf of the Centre. As an inscription that I once came across said, "To live in the hearts of those we love is not to die".
On a happier note, please don't forget we have the Uxbridge car show on the third Sunday, this month. As this event clashes with the third Sunday noggin at the Hampden Arms, we have moved this noggin to the fourth Sunday, on July 27th; this change will be for this month only. We shall be going back to the third Sunday as normal, next month. I hope this change won't inconvenience anyone; thank you.
