On behalf of the Centre I would like to thank the Cornwall Centre and their associates for all their hard work in providing a wonderful event that was MOG 2008. I thoroughly enjoyed myself, particularly meeting up with some old lost friends from the region. It was a terrific weekend.
Also, I would like to thank everyone for helping me with my broken down camper van as I was leaving MOG 2008. Unfortunately I held up quite a queue of Morgans, as we desperately tried to get me out of my predicament. I apologise for the inconvenience. My final rescue was due mainly to Charles Neal, his mother and Peter Freelove. I would like to thank the three of you very much indeed. The full comic detail will no doubt eventually appear in our monthly newsletter. Looking back now I think, I can laugh about it - a little.
In June we visited Oxmog as part of our Charity Challenge in Glenn Davies's memory. There was a great turn out, making for a lovely evening meeting up with old friends. I would like to thank everyone who attended: a report on the evening appears in the Oxmog Centre notes as well as their monthly newsletter. I hope we shall be able to join them at a noggin again soon.
Please don't forget that on August 2nd we shall be meeting up at the Bird In Hand car park at 08:30 am for a run out to Silverstone for the annual Bentley Drivers' meeting. We hope to arrive at Silverstone around 10:30 - 11:00 am, ending up at the Morgan only parking area, behind the Grandstands. Chatting to Helen Thorne at MOG 2008, I told her that we would be making the trip to Silverstone and she immediately invited us to their paddock area, where her mum will offer us some refreshment. I would like to thank Helen for her kind invitation. Nicola's soup is very special indeed! It should be a great day out - I hope to see you there.
Moreover, this month we have our first visit to the Chiltern Open Air museum with Roger and Adrienne Prior. I think this should prove to be an interesting day out. I was pleased to learn that their visit to Beale Park, in June was immensely pleasurable. I was also pleased to learn that our visitors from other centres, some having travelled a great distance, enjoyed themselves; you are most welcome and I hope you will be able to join us again. Beale Park is a special event; I hope we will be able to go back there again next year.
Finally, this month there is the MSCC race meeting at Mallory Park and the superb air show at Dunsfold to go along to. Please contact Trudie Jacobs at the Brighton Centre for the air tickets, if she has any left at this late stage. Also, it pays to buy tickets for Mallory in advance from the MSCC, if you can.
A couple of months ago I mentioned the change in management at the first Sunday noggin at the Cross pub. Well, at the time of writing I didn't know that the pub was also due to change its name to the Frog and Wicket. It's still a great traditional pub, but with a different name. Hopefully, you will be able to locate the noggin OK, since the new Land Lord arranges for a Morgans only parking area out front, for all to see. I look forward to seeing you there.
Since August is a busy time for holidays and Morgan events, our next walk is being held over until September. This walk will be back with our friends from Hopmog. Regular readers of the Guardian of Morgan newsletters, Hopmog Review, will know they have a new intrepid reporter, Sally Bluff who provides a full exposé on our little expeditions, sniffing out all the minute little details, etc. Our next walk starts off at the Seven Stars pub, Ripley in Surrey.
