I am pleased to be able to announce a special event that will be billed as an ‘End of Season Scenic Run and Canal Trip’, that will be held on Saturday 28th September 2013. This will be a great day out starting at the Bird In Hand, Knowl Hill followed by a leisurely run winding up into the Chiltern Hills and on to Pitstone Wharf for a two hour trip on the Grand Union Canal through some of the best of Chiltern scenery - then a further run back into the Thames Valley. Included in the trip will be a fish and chip lunch with unlimited tea and coffee. The only extras are any purchases from the licensed bar. Please contact Ian Wilson, details given below, if you would like to come on this voyage of discovery. Numbers are limited so bookings will be taken on a first come first served basis. I would like to thank Ian for organising this exciting excursion – it should be a great day out. I hope you can come along.
Kop Hill Climb is being held this month over the weekend of September 21/22 – Christopher Nickless and others have been regular attendees to this event and they highly recommend it for a fun weekend. It is advisable to register on the web site to obtain your tickets, etc. Cranmog are usually there in force displaying their exquisite Morgan sports cars. I understand this year the event organisers may have put a limit on the age of the cars that can join any car displays – a form of discrimination you might say. However, do not let this stop you coming along in your Morgan to enjoy the event. There are also opportunities to drive up the hill. It is a great weekend – I hope to see you there.
Please don’t forget this month our visit to Clandon Park, we have been allowed to display our Morgan Sports Cars in front of the house. We have around ten cars wanting to join us so far but if you would like to join in please let me know so that I can let Clandon Park know our final numbers, etc. It should be a great day out. I hope to see you there.
Early next month at the Bird In Hand we have our open event planning meeting. Please come along to hear ideas for upcoming events for 2014 and beyond. There will be an open microphone for anyone to put forward any ideas they may have for future events. For example, it was at last year’s meeting that Ian Wilson proposed his canal boat trip that this month we shall be relishing. So do please bring along your ideas. We are here to facilitate and to encourage the enjoyment and exercising of our Morgan Sports Cars. I hope you can make it to the meeting – it will be great fun.
