On Sunday 23rd August some of us were due to attend the Shoreham Air show organised by David & Lynn Collins of Sexmog. Sadly, the day before there was a tragic accident at the show. David and Lynn had the responsibility of letting us all know on the day. I understand at RAF Benson we enjoyed the sight of the last remaining Vulcan bomber do an impromptu show. I was lucky enough, some years ago, to see one of these at a Battle of Britain air show at RAF Abingdon. I remember it flying over then a steep climbing turn with its bomb bays open – quite something. However, the highlight of the show was the Electric Lightning interceptor. I was interested to read in the Daily Telegraph recently that an electric Morgan Three Wheeler, with a 150 mile range between plug-ins, was being made ready for full production. For many of my run around trips this could be a useful vehicle; I guess I could charge it up at night with my smart phone. I would like to thank everyone who came along to our AGM held last April. We had a great turn out. I would like to thanks all those who sent in their absentee and proxy votes forms. The amendments to our revised Centre Constitution were ratified, as were the minutes from our EGM held last November. The outgoing Committee were pleased that there was a great level of interest for the significant work they had completed in taking the Centre Constitution forward. I believe this newly ratified Constitution will provide a firm foundation for the future activities of the Centre.

May is a busy month for the Thames Valley Centre. In addition to the regular monthly noggins we have a host of events. Firstly, the 9 pin bowling match against the Marcos club, originally scheduled for May, has been postponed following a double booking by the pub. I will be looking for an alternative venue for later in the year. On a positive note, the annual Morgan and Marcos Ace Café meeting takes place on 23rd May. This iconic location has become the regular meeting place for many motor and bike clubs. We look forward to enjoying the traditional ‘50s
