At the time of writing, I was busily preparing for a hectic weekend. First off, I was being helped by Dave Collins of Sexmog to strip down my recherché Roadster Lightweight for the Brighton Speed Trials. We were down to the aero screens with fine weather anticipated. Dave keeps trying to persuade me to change the race seats – they are a tight fit. I offered to attend a spa with him as we worked. However, all those green salads, etc., would be hard to cope with I thought, as I shared some more white chocolate chip cookies with Dave.

We have a busy first weekend in September with the Brighton Speed Trials on September 6th, and the Mapledurham trip on Sunday 7th September. The trials start promptly at 9 a.m. and runs through until 6 p.m. The straight line dashes along Madeira Driver run all day with only a thirty minute lunch break. So it is worthwhile arriving early to be ready for the first practice runs with the main event starting at around 11:30 pm.   Recently, I attended the funeral of John Linfield of Sexmog Centre. John was well known by members of Thames Valley having enjoyed attendance at several national MOG events and joint centre gatherings. He was once pulled down a hill by my vigorous Labrador. He never let go of Bobby’s lead, right down to the bottom, which was the beginning of a long friendship between them. Whenever I saw John, he always asked after Bobby. John was a good friend, and a loving father and husband. He had some courageous years in the fire service and he was talented engineer.

  Our recent AGM appointed a New Standing Committee. I would like to welcome Andy Doughty, Dave Cleveland, Dave Vodden, James Bellew, Mike Aldrich, Steve Bridge, Terry Tedman, Tim Jones and myself to the new team. The New Standing Committee recognise the feelings, and some deep seated, expressed at the AGM and will now endeavour to move forward in the best interest of all at the meeting in a transparent and fair manner. The aim will be to facilitate, with our best efforts, the enjoyment and camaraderie of the Morgan sports car within the Thames Valley Centre and the Morgan

I have some more good news from Terry and Teresa Tedman! Their son Paul has just been awarded the Queens Commendation for Valuable Service in the latest Afghanistan honours and awards list. He was the only member of the Army Air Corps to get an award. This is his second one or (bar in military terminology). He received the first one for Iraq. Prince Charles also sent his personal congratulations by letter. Terry and Teresa are very proud of their son and rightly so. In this transitory year in Afghanistan, it is certainly a time for reflection on the sacrifices
